Superlativo dos Adjetivos Longos

 O Superlativo dos Adjetivos Longos é formado da seguinte maneira:

THE MOST + ADJETIVO

beautiful (bonito)  

the most beautiful (o mais bonito)

comfortable (confortável) 

the most comfortable (o mais confortável)

dangerous (perigoso)  

the most dangerous (o mais perigoso)

economical (econômico)  

the most economical (o mais econômico)

expensive (caro)  

the most expensive (o mais caro)

Exemplo: 

This is the most beautiful dress I have.
(Este é o vestido mais bonito que eu tenho.)

OBSERVAÇÕES:

1) Adjetivos de duas sílabas:

a) adjetivos terminados em -er, -le, -ly, -ow podem fazer a forma superlativa de duas maneiras: adjetivo + est ou the most + adjetivo

clever (inteligente) 
cleverest ou the most clever  

(o mais inteligente)

                
gentle (gentil)   

gentlest ou the most gentle  

(o mais gentil)

friendly (simpático)  
friendliest ou the most friendly 

(o mais simpático)

narrow (estreito)  
narrowest ou the most narrow 

(o mais estreito)

Exemplo: 

He is the cleverest/the most clever in the family.

(Ele é o mais inteligente da família.)

b) Outros adjetivos comuns que podem fazer a forma superlativa de duas maneiras: 

adjetivo + est ou the most + adjetivo

common (comum) 
commonest ou the most common 

(o mais comum)

handsome (bonito)  
handsomest ou the most handsome 

(o mais bonito)

pleasant (agradável)  
pleasantest ou the most pleasant 

(o mais agradável)

quiet (calmo)  
quietest ou the most quiet 

(o mais calmo) 

Exemplo: 

He is the quiestest person I know.
He is the most quiet person I know.

(Ele é a pessoa mais calma que eu conheço.)

c) adjetivos terminados em -al, -ate, -ent, -ful, -ic, -ish, -ive, -less, -ous = the most + adjetivo

normal (normal) 

the most normal (o mais normal)

private (íntimo/pessoal)  

the most private (o mais íntimo/pessoal)

recent (recente) 

the most recent (o mais recente)

helpful (útil/prestativo) 

the most helpful (o mais útil/prestativo)

classic (clássico) 

the most classic (o mais clássico)

foolish (tolo) 

the most foolish (o mais tolo)

pensive (pensativo) 

the most pensive (o mais pensativo)

careless (descuidado)  

the most careless (o mais descuidado)

nervous (nervoso) 

the most nervous (o mais nervoso)

Exemplo: 

He is the most helpful around here.

(Ele é o mais prestativo por aqui.)

2) Adjetivos em forma de particípio passado -ed = the most + adjetivo

bored (entediado) 

the most bored (o mais entediado)

annoyed (irritado) 

the most annoyed (o mais irritado)

interested  (interessado)

the most interested (o mais interessado)

Exemplo: 

She is the most bored person in the party.
(Ela é a pessoa mais entediada da festa.)

3) Adjetivos em forma de particípio presente -ing = the most + adjetivo 

boring (chato) 

the most boring (o mais chato)

annoying (irritante) 

the most annoying (o mais irritante)

interesting (interessante) 

the most interesting (o mais interessante)

Exemplo:  

Brad is the most annoying guy I know.

(Brad é o cara mais irritante que conheço.)
