Everywhere in the world people
celebrate special dates.
In the USA and England, for example,
some dates have a special meaning.
In the USA, Independence Day is
celebrated on July 4th.
Thanksgiving Day is on the fourth
Thursday of November. On this day
families meet for a special dinner and
give thanks to God for the past year.
On February 14th Americans and
British celebrate Valentine's Day.
People send "Valentines" to one
another. "Valentines" are special
cards with hearts, flowers and
loving words.
On Mother's Day, people give
flowers and gifts to their
mothers.
Children always have fun at
Halloween on October 31st.
They dress up as ghosts and
witches, go from house to house
and say "Trick or Treat".
Christmas is on December
25th. People give presents
and send cards to friends
and relatives.
Special dates are an important
part of the tradition and culture
of a country.
